What’s something you did to help out your Bride as a Bridesmaid?

Girl, we gotchu! It’s not just about your hair & makeup, but for me, it’s about how I can help you look & feel your best and less anxious before the cray cray starts.

I am fortunate to get referred by @amandine_taravellier, a wedding event planner in FRANCE 🇫🇷 who refers her clients to me who are eloping in NYC.

…And 90% of them don’t speak English - Google translate is our best friend in those moments. 📱

…And most of the time, they don’t have help. We’re the help, and we’re happy to be there for them. 🥹💞

If I can make her day even more special by lending a helping hand before I run out that door, I’m doing it. Why? Is not like they pay me for that extra time. But the question is, WHY NOT?

I will never understand anyone who ever replies with, “that’s not my job.”

Cue: THEY NOT LIKE US.

Nobody tells you how hard this job can be on the BODY! From the super early mornings to the back braces, and the long hrs on your feet, 😣 it can be a lot!

Plus, I got CBT in ‘Cuse 🍊 with @sualumniofcolor this weekend so I need to warm up them hips for strolling with my 🌻 from @omegaphibeta on campus! It’s been years.

So if I can’t make it to the gym, I gotta get it in 💪 anyway I can even if that means in my sala at home.

I miss teaching @vixenworkout in Jersey but these 40-year old knees don’t 👵🏼 so I gladly participate on YouTube 📺 and burn 🔥 some calories in about 30 min.

And that’s your Monday Motivation to find any possible way to fit in a teeny workout 🏋️ even if it’s half hour to reset that mind, body & spirit and start your week right!

I really loved 🥰 the simplicity of our Bride, Megan’s look-from her dress-to her glam. Just everything!

This was a chilly, windy, rainy day, anddddd an outdoor wedding. But with airbrush and all the hair spray, you would never know! 😉

And if you haven’t been to a wedding at the Bronx Zoo, put it on your bucket 🪣 list!

As always, my girl @hair_by_ericadiaz killed it.

3 things we appreciate you do before your MUA & Hair Stylist arrive:

1️⃣ We normally ask for clean & dry hair. In most cases, (depending on the texture) we would prefer you to wash your hair the night before or 2 nights before with NO 🚫 hair product - let us do that for you! It can negatively impact the heat styling.

2️⃣ Retinol promotes cell turnover & can bulldoze 🛻 its way in to your layers of dead skin cells just hanging out, break them up, and start to repair them.

3️⃣ Get a good nights rest! 😴 Puh-leeeease!!!! It will make all the difference in the world, especially under the eyes!!!!

I’ll keep it 💯- not everyone can wing it.

It takes some folks lots & lots of PRACTICE, and yet still, some just can’t master the winged liner.

But here’s my little trick, which can help in 3 ways:

1️⃣ You want to test out how a true winged liner can look on you,

2️⃣ You have just a few minutes to get ready and don’t have time to clean it up if you mess up, or

3️⃣ You just know damn well you’re never gonna get the hang of this.

It’s all good girl. Nobody’s gotta know… 😉

So just fake it till you make it… like my eyeliner!

1️⃣. WATER RESISTANT - Sweat, tears, or rain – this makeup isn’t going anywhere thanks to its silicone-magic! 💧✨

2️⃣. NO SWIPING, just spraying – which means less makeup is used but still flawless & full coverage! 🎨💁‍♀️

3️⃣. STAYING POWER - makeup won’t fade, slay all day!💪💄

4️⃣. LONGEVITY - lasts 8 to 12 hrs depending on your skin but all you’ll need is powder to touch up 🕒💋

5️⃣. LIGHTWEIGHT - you’ll forget you’re even wearing makeup! 🌬️💖

6️⃣. LOOKS LIKE SKIN - because who wants to look like a cake? 🎂😉

7️⃣. LUXURY - only the best for my girls 👑💎

Even on my days of rest, I will ALWAYS miss doing makeup! So I can’t help it 😆 I’m always staring at her.💺

Everyone’s talking about reverse contour today & we all have our own techniques…

But before I go there, how hawt 🔥 does my girl Chris look!!!!

So yeah, reverse contour: it’s always how I’ve done makeup since I began this journey in 2005.

How Sway?

1️⃣ CHOOSE YOUR FORMULA (liquid, cream, powder can all be used interchangeably) 🎨 though in this photo I used AIRBRUSHED makeup since it’s my preference.

2️⃣ START WITH CONTOUR - apply around the perimeter of your face (forehead to jaw) under cheekbones, and sides of nose 👃 if your goal is to “thinnify” it.

3️⃣ USE 2 FOUNDATIONS - ✌🏼 this may be shocking for some, but my contour shade is the actual skin shade and the inner face is a shade 1 or 2 shades lighter. You won’t believe the magic this creates!

My 💭 dream is for the “After” to reflect the “Before.”

Reality check: I’ll keep dreaming 😆

But it’s a transformation story that every makeup artist knows all too well! Might look like a tornado 🌪️ hit but it’s my brush that did the slaying. 💁🏻‍♀️

HOW I CLEAN BRUSHES:

After each makeup job, my used brushes AND makeup get thrown in a ziplock separate from my kit for a good clean up.

The struggle be real when I’m tired, BUT…

as soon as I get home, I clean 🧽 🫧 my bushes with my fave brush cleaner by @itcosmetics and sanitize with alcohol!

And every week, they get deeply cleansed with the IT Cosmetics 🧼 bar.

Even my personal at-home brushes get deeply cleansed 1x a week - or else, I breakout from accumulated bacteria. 🦠

Oh, and Lesson learned: NEVER EVER throw them in the dish washer! 🤦‍♀️ ❌🙅🏼‍♀️

👉 When applying bronzer, think of drawing the number 3️⃣ on each side of your face:

Start at your forehead, sweep down to your cheekbones, and then along your jawline.

Pinterest actually is a great resource and they let you select from a palette of skin tones too!

My beautiful bride Chelsea had a last-minute change of heart, swapping her warm bronzed natural look for this photo 📷 Inspo: a full glam transformation with a stunning Smokey eye. 💋

When it comes to bringing a photo 📱 of inspiration 👉 few things to note:

1️⃣ Most makeup pics you’ll find on Pinterest are filtered with no texture (do you see any pores here? Nope!) So you’re skin won’t look like that.

2️⃣ The model’s features are most likely not like yours so be flexible to what the final look can look like. For example: bigger eyes in photo vs you have smaller eyes.

So while I am open to inspo photos, keep the above in mind! 😉

Are you that girl! 😭 Listen, don’t feel bad, it happens, but if you do have sensitive eyes, here’s what you should do:

✨ Dealing with sensitive eyes 🥹can be tricky, but here are 5 tips to keep your makeup looking flawless throughout our time together: ✨

1️⃣. **Communicate Early**: Let me/your makeup artist know about your sensitivity ahead of time so we can start planning ahead how we’ll adjust your look and what to avoid. 🗣️

2️⃣. **Prep Properly**: Use eye drops before your appointment to reduce dryness and irritation. 🌵

3️⃣. **Avoid Tightlining**: Skip eyeliner on the waterline to minimize irritation. (I know it’s not everyone’s favorite solution but it will drastically minimize the chance of your eye running.) We can also opt for waterproof eyeliner but at some point, the water line will be too wet to apply the eyeliner. 👀

4️⃣. **Waterproof Mascara**: This is a given whether you have watery/sensitive eyes or not. It’s a non-negotiable for weddings! And it helps to prevent smudging if your eyes do water. 💦

5️⃣. **Take Breaks**: Allow for short breaks during application to rest your eyes if they start feeling uncomfortable. So plan your time accordingly as your trial or makeup appt day may run a bit longer. ⏰

Remember, your comfort is key to achieving that perfect look! 💕✨

WHEN TO HIRE HAIR & MAKEUP FOR TOUCH-UPS:

If thinking of leaving your hair naturally curly for the wedding or long-day event, and wondering 🤔 💭 “how do I keep the hair from frizzing & my makeup from glistening?” after hours of photos and dancing, you may want to consider hiring your hair stylist & makeup artist for touch-ups.

We did both hair & makeup on Ireland and we kept her natural curls, and defined them with long-lasting hair styling products.

You can def go from a loose look to a quick updo WITHOUT applying HEAT. We can totally respect your preference or the journey you’ve been through with your hair. We get it! 👋 We’re a team of all hair textures here!

Makeup & Hair teams usually charge per hour - we charge $100 per our per MUA & per Hair Stylist ($200 ph for both) with a 2-hr minimum, and start / end time depends on your schedule.

Consider:

1️⃣ “What time is photography starting?”

2️⃣ “What part of my schedule would I want my Hair to change?”

3️⃣ “What time is cake-cutting so my Makeup can look fresh in photos after dancing?”
